Tonami is located in the western part of Toyama Prefecture and is especially famous for the production of tulip bulbs. Many tulip-related events take place in this area. For example, from late February to early March, the "Tulip Exhibition Calling Spring" is held, where visitors can enjoy approximately 10,000 tulips at the Tulip Shikisai Kan.
From late April to early May, the Tonami Tulip Fair is held at Tonami Tulip Park, where 2.5 million tulips of 600 varieties, the largest number in Japan, can be seen. The Tulip Shikisaikan is also a popular tourist spot, where tulips can be enjoyed all year round using a technique called "ice tulip".
Furthermore, there is also Shogawa Onsen-kyo, a hot spring resort known for its therapeutic properties for neuralgia, rheumatism, high blood pressure, wounds, and arteriosclerosis, which attracts many hot spring cures.
Gokayama is located in the southwestern part of Toyama Prefecture, in the area of the former Taira, Kamidaira, and Toga villages. It is an area of heavy snowfall and is characterized by thatched gassho-zukuri houses, which allow visitors to enjoy the atmosphere of good old Japan.
The Gokayama area is also dotted with soba noodle stores, tea cafes, and souvenir stores, making it an enjoyable area for tourists.
