This 5-km-long gorge stretches in the middle reaches of the Konashi River, a tributary of the Oyabe River. The area is designated as “Inabayama-Miyajima Gorge Prefectural Park” and is a beautiful scenic spot, with multiple waterfalls and oddly shaped rocks forming a distinctive landscape.
At Miyajima Gorge, visitors can see terraced, stair-step waterfalls. The first waterfall is also called “Little Niagara” because of the way the water cascades down to cover the entire river.
Ni-no-Taki has three tiers of waterfalls, creating a graceful scene. And you can see various types of waterfalls, such as the third waterfall, which cascades down from the stagnant waters of Ryugubuchi.
The waterfall named “Kuzugataki” was named after the sound of water falling into a cave, which sounds like the sound of a drum. There is a walking trail for visitors to stroll along, and 12 bronze statues are scattered throughout the area.
The sound of the waterfall, the rustling of the trees, and the chirping of birds and insects are the only pleasant sounds of nature that can be heard here, creating a healing atmosphere.
The area around Miyajima Gorge is a popular tourist destination. Near the Ni-no-Taki waterfall is the Miyajima hot spring “Takinoso,” a rock-fill dam called the Konegawa Dam, and the Inabayama Ranch (Mt. Inaba), where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Tonami Plain.
It is recommended to walk along the promenade while listening to the murmuring of the river and feeling the nature.
